Our Society’s first talk this season will take place on Wednesday 21 November. It is dedicated to the art of the suzani – one of the most beautiful and intricate forms of applied art in Uzbekistan, yet scarcely known outside the country. We are not only fortunate to have Anthea Roberts, an expert in the field, to guide us through this subject, but the event itself will be held in the Afridi Gallery, which houses what is arguably the best collection of suzanis in Britain. This means that you will be able to see for yourselves, close up, these rare and lovely objects; for a foretaste, see http://www.cornucopia.net/blog/the-other-chelsea-flower-show/.

NB: Space is limited, so early registration is essential. To reserve your place, please contact BUS Events (events@uzbek.org.uk) by 19 November at the latest.
