This is mostly devoted to the development of modern communications systems (mid-20th century onwards) in Uzbekistan. The exhibits are well displayed and the labelling is excellent. For the less technically-minded visitors, there are interesting sections on the history of early postal services in this region. The material on the second half of the 19th century is particularly good, giving an insight into the physical and organisational problems of long-distance communications when road and rail networks had limited reach and uncertain weather conditions made travel by horse-back hazardous.
