Rosa has gained a diverse international experience due to her life, study and work experience in three different countries – the UK, The Netherlands and Kazakhstan. She started her professional career in Almaty (Kazakhstan) as Teacher/Lecturer in Russian as a Foreign Language. She taught Russian to international students and overseas teaching staff studying and working in Kazakh universities. She then moved on to teaching Russian to international business executives and representatives of the overseas development agencies based in Almaty. She successfully used this experience in The Netherlands at the Linguarama Centre for Business Language Training in The Hague.
In 2003, Rosa moved to the UK with her family on a permanent basis. Since then, she has been awarded two Masters’ degrees: MA in International Relations (Nottingham Trent University) and an MSc in Development Studies with Special Reference to Central Asia (SOAS University of London). Both Master’s degrees, on top of her first Degree in Russian Language and Literature (Kazakhstan State University), together with relevant work experience, facilitated her further progression in the UK.
During the last 12 years, Rosa has acquired a very diverse work experience in the UK, due to a number of roles she held at Consumers International NGO (London), MackBrooks Exhibitions Ltd (St Albans), Xerox Ltd (Welwyn Garden City), London Centre for Social Studies (London), SOAS University of London and University College London (UCL). She is a member of the Organising Committee of the Annual Doctoral Workshop on Central Asian Studies held at Senate House under the umbrella of the Royal Holloway University of London. To sum up, this experience has been invaluable in building her portfolio of expertise and skills in the following areas:
- Organising and coordinating events from inception to delivery including: events administration, building up portfolio of speakers and events partners, sourcing venues, catering, promotion, use of social media and website
- Desktop research skills, used for putting together workshop agendas and educational programmes
- Data handling and records keeping, ensuring compliance with data regulations
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, cultural sensitivity and diplomacy.
Rosa is eager to use her experience, skills and the networks built up throughout her work and study experience to promote Uzbekistan’s cultural and historical heritage, facilitating further cultural dialogue and collaboration between Uzbekistan and the UK.
